2025 Rural Roots Agriculture Camp

Are you a high school student curious about where your food comes from or how farms really work?  Get a behind-the-scenes look at modern agriculture, discover career paths, and meet the professionals who make it all happen!

Camp Dates:
June 6, 9, 10 and 11, 2025

Locations:
Local and regional farms, ag-tech companies, food production facilities, PA Timber Show and more!

Who Can Join:
High school students in grades 10-12 residing in Armstrong and Indiana Counties.  No experience needed - just curiosity and a sense of adventure!  Camp spaces are limited to ONLY 10 STUDENTS!  Submit your application today to secure your spot!

Chaperones Are Provided:
Two teachers from schools in Armstrong and Indiana Counties will chaperone and serve as camp counselors during the camp each day.  Chaperones will have experience in agriculture.

All students and chaperones must report to a central location to catch the camp bus each morning.  Locations and times are TBD, approximately 8am to 4pm.

What You'll Experience:

  • Hands-on activities and guided tours
  • Q&A with farm owners and agri-entrepreneurs
  • Insight into careers in ag science, business and sustainability
  • Transportation included
  • Students must pack a bagged lunch
  • Students with perfect camp attendance will receive $100 cash!

STUDENT REGISTRATION IS CLOSED AT THIS TIME.  PLEASE CHECK BACK IN EARLY 2026. 

Student applications are due May 16, 2025.  The Armstrong Center for Community Learning (ACCL) will review applications for the Rural Roots Agriculture Summer Camp, including an essay from each student describing why you're interested in the camp and what you hope to gain from it.
