2026 Armstrong-Indiana Career Fair

March 26, 2026
9AM to 12PM
West Shamokin High School
178 Wolf Drive, Rural Valley, PA 16249

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an exciting, interactive career fair connecting high school students, educators, and guidance counselors with leading employers from a wide range of industries.

More than 400 high school students in grades 9-12 explored a variety of career pathways, discovered emerging job opportunities, and connected directly with professionals who are ready to share insights and answer questions.  Students met employers offering internships, training programs, and career opportunities; learned about in-demand skills and growing industries; and received guidance from educators and career specialists.  It was a chance to inspire students in their next steps after high school.

Please note: this career fair is not open to the general public to ensure the safety of students. Unlike past events, a job fair will not follow this year’s career fair.

KEYNOTE SPOTLIGHT: BUILD YOUR FUTURE IN TECH, ENERGY, AND CONSTRUCTION (New for 2026!)

The Armstrong-Indiana Career Fair keynote presentations offered students a dynamic look at the opportunities shaping today’s workforce—and the skills needed to succeed in the future.

In one featured session, Robin Gorman of Homer City Generation, Laura Anderson of Kiewit, Eduardo Garcia of Kiewit, and Shawn Steffee of Boilermakers Local 154 explored career pathways in construction, energy, and regional development. Drawing on their real-world experience in economic development, infrastructure, and the skilled trades, they engaged students in an interactive conversation about planning for life after high school, setting meaningful goals, and understanding the wide range of opportunities available across these essential industries. Their session highlighted how collaboration between education, industry, and community partners is driving growth and creating strong career pathways right here in our region.

In a second keynote, Dr. Justin W. Aglio of Penn State Outreach and the Readiness Institute introduced students to the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of work and education. A nationally recognized leader in AI literacy and workforce readiness, Dr. Aglio provided insight into emerging careers, the growing importance of adaptability and innovation, and the key skills students will need to thrive in a technology-driven world. His engaging presentation encouraged students to think critically about how they can prepare for careers that may not yet exist—and how they can play a role in shaping the future.

Together, these keynote sessions inspired, informed, and empowered students to take the next steps in their career journeys with confidence and curiosity.
